GIVING KIDS A CHANCE AROUND THE WORLD
If you want to get fit, get going and do something worthwhile at the same time, Gulf for Good has the answer! G4G is a Dubai-based charity, founded in 2001 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Open to all Gulf residents and nationals, our adventure challenges around the world raise money for handpicked children’s charities in the areas where the challenges take place. To date, we’ve organised 25 challenges in 17 countries involving 550+ participants, aged from 16 to 72, & we have raised over US 1.5 million in the process. Those funds have been donated to tangible & carefully thought out projects in the adventure challenge host countries. We hear constantly that the challenges we organise make a huge difference to peoples’ lives. Obviously the recipients of the funds benefit enormously, but doing the challenge itself often turns out to be a life-changing experience for many challengers. Regular challenges we organise include trekking to Machu Piccu in Peru, Everest Base Camp & Mount Kilimanjaro. But we have also organised some pretty unusual challenges such as cycling in Cambodia & Thailand, kayaking in Madagascar & Oman, & multi-activity challenges in Mongolia & Borneo, plus some closer to home in Jordan, Oman, Egypt & UAE.
There are two more exciting adventure challenges lined up for 2009 - The Annapurna Circuit Trek (Nepal), October 16 to 30 and the Cycling the Seven Emirates Challenge (UAE), November 26 to December 2 - and there will be a whole host of new challenges for 2010, probably including cycling in Croatia, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, cycling, hiking and kayaking in Thailand....
Gulf for Good hold regular Social and Information Evenings, where you can meet the team, pick up tips on getting fit and fundraising and learn everything you need to know about how G4G works, the challenges and the charities it supports.
