Magic Bus is a registered charity providing an outdoor education for children living in slums and rural poverty in India.  Its vision is to bring about a fundamental shift in the way communities behave and to empower youth to take charge of their lives and build stronger communities. Since its genesis in 1999, the organisation has worked with approximately 140,000 children from marginalised backgrounds, providing them with a need-based and age specific programme, which addresses vital social and personal developmental needs. Using sports as a medium, and by providing positive role models, children are made aware of their own abilities and of the world around them. They learn to support each other across gender, social and religious divides.  Their awareness turns into a belief that they can make a difference, which provides them with a purpose in life, thereby enabling them to move out of and stay out of poverty.

Magic Bus started in Mumbai and is now based in Maharashtra, Delhi and Andhra Pradesh.  Its aim is to reach out to over 1 million youth across India in the next 3 years.  To find out more visit: www.magicbusindia.org or email pauline@magicbusindia.org

Riding for the Disabled Association of Dubai
Riding for the Disabled Association of Dubai is a charity which offers therapeutic riding on horses to enrich the lives of children with disabilities.  The movement of the horse’s body exercises the rider’s muscles and helps to strengthen them.  Besides from having fun in the lesson the rider improves balance, coordination and gains self-confidence.  The interaction with the instructor, volunteers, other riders and horses helps them with their communication and social skills.  We need volunteers as we totally rely on volunteers to assist with the riding sessions from leading a horse to side walking and ensuring the child stays on the horse. Can you give a couple of hours a week?  There are morning and afternoon riding sessions to choose from. We also need volunteers for assistance with fund raising and gaining sponsorship.  Can you help? Please email rdadubai@hotmail.com or call Helen Walshe 050 734 9484 for further information
