Treatment Review: Kerastraight

My dream…wake up, brush my hair and go. Sadly, for me it is half an hour with the straigtheners trying to get rid of the kinks and waves my husband kindly calls my “wings” while slightly burning my ears and fingers.
The lovely Donna at Pastels mentioned a revolutionary new treatment which will keep your hair straight for months. Unlike the previous “Japanese Hair straightening”, Kerastraight does not contain harmful formaldehyde. Kerastraight works on any type of hair, especially if it is very damaged or has been chemically treated.
It was too tempting and I was soon off to see Maria at Pastels at the Ritz.
The first step is a thorough wash to remove any residue build up from hair products. Then Maria dried my hair, very, very dry. The treatment then went in and set for 20 minutes. Contrary to many treatments, this smelt beautiful. The smell of bananas had my tummy rumbling!
The paste contains white clay and 22k gold, so Dubai! The hair was dried again with the product in and then ironed to perfection. Each strand was ironed 10 times! The whole process took about 2 hours for medium length hair.
One month later, I still get up, brush my hair and go…. The results look best when I wash and rough blow dry my hair, but I haven’t been near the straighteners. My hair is straight, but does not look greasy and the texture is amazing.
Kerastraight is available both Pastels salons at the Ritz-Carlton and Jumeirah Beach Road and costs about 1000Dhs.
