Treatment Review: Dermalogica Facial & Reflexology at Pastels
The idea of getting pampered literally from my toes to my head at the same time was a very tempting one. Pastels are now offering a facial and reflexology at the same time. Choose any of their signature facials and Birgit the “foot magician” will tend to any of your more deep rooted health issues.
I chose the Dermalogica deep cleansing facial as I am prone to spots.
Birgit started off by drawing up a detailed profile of my health. She asked me questions about my lifestyle and medical history. She then asked me to choose 4 colors from the Althera palette, without thinking I found I was in a blue and gold mood. Reflexology uses feet mapping to determine weaknesses in the body.
I then lay down and it was Isabella, the beauty therapist’s turn to ask questions and to map my skin according to the Dermalogica skin mapping chart.
While my face was being cleansed, Birgit started on my feet using organic aroma color oils in tune with the colors I had chosen. The pressure was just right, but some areas were very painful. She immediately identified parts of my body where I had had issues in the past as well as current problems and things to look out for in the future. She then wrapped my feet in lovely warm towels and quietly left the room.
Once my face was squeaky clean and my pores opened by the steam, Isabella got down to some serious work on any problem areas, followed by an amazing shoulder and neck massage. She then put on a lovely clay mask and left me to sleep. I am afraid I can’t tell you what happened then as I was fast asleep; I only hope I did not snore!
The advice from both Isabella and Birgit was that I need to drink more water. This is especially important as the reflexology gets all those toxins moving and they then need to be evacuated. They advised me to drink 2 litres a day for the next 2 days.
I must say that I felt quite sluggish for about 36 hours, but the next day I felt really great and my skin was glowing.
For me, the measure of a good treatment is how quickly it puts me to sleep, so this was a winner!
