Dubai - Enjoy a Traditional British Roast at RAffles Dubai
Raffles Roast

Ladies if you are looking for meal as good as the one your mum made or possibly even better then look no further than the Raffles Roast which is served every Friday on the 3rd floor of the hotel. I went this weekend with my husband and daughter and we were all of the same opinion, the food was magnificent, almost as good as my mums and she is the acknowledged “Queen of Roasts”.

The selection is tremendous and the quality of food second to none, we ate nothing that wasn’t excellent in both looks and flavour and will happily be returning.

The restaurant is light and airy with a great terrace available for the cooler months. The Raffles Roast is aimed at families who want to eat together rather than drink, if you know what I mean! There are two options one with alcohol and one without which meant lots of people were happily enjoying themselves with out falling down….

The concept is based around the British Roast and consequently the starters and desserts are also of British origin, I started with a combination of coleslaw, very fresh and flavoursome, avocado with prawns and smoked fish. Other options were oysters, an excellent mushroom soup and a good array of salads but in truth we were there for the Roast so headed across to the carvery area fairly quickly.

Dubai - Things to do - traditional British Roast Lunch at Raffles DubaiAs a non meat eater you might ask what I was doing but I do love all the bits that come with roast dinners and weren’t disappointed. The roast pork came with apple sauce, the turkey with bread sauce and the beef with the most magnificent Yorkshire puddings and gravy. The other meat option was roast lamb with all the trimmings and according to my husband the highlight was the crackling on the pork.

The selection of vegetables was very impressive, everything from mashed swede, runner beans, cauliflower mornay, roast parsnips, roast and boiled potatoes, carrots and peas to cabbage and not one disappointed.  All had been cooked to perfection.

For non meat eaters there was Salmon Wellington and a Roasted Vegetable En Croute.

For the littlies there was a pasta station and mini burgers but my children love a proper lunch so were happy to return time and time again to the Roast options.

Having eaten probably more than I should have I hadn’t left too much room for pud but am pleased to report that in the interest of putting together a proper review I did try two….. The Sherry Trifle was sublime, a light sponge soaked in sherry and served with a selection of fresh berries, home made custard and whipped cream. And, the banoffi pie was equally good. Olivia tried the Peach Cobble which came with custard and there was also rice pudding in addition to some fab looking chocolate desserts and fruit for the healthy.

As a cheese lover I couldn’t resist the stilton wheel so found a last bit of room for stilton and grapes and a good Americano coffee.

I don’t think you could get better value for AED 200 anywhere in Dubai at the moment as the food really is well worth the investment. The beverage package includes not only a choice of wine but also Pimms, spirits and cocktails and costs an additional AED 130. Children under twelve eat free and if you have much smaller children there is children’s area and clown to keep them occupied.

Every Friday, from 12:30 to 16:00 hrs in Azur

  • Price is AED 200 inclusive of soft drinks/chilled juices/tea & coffee
  • or AED 330 all inclusive of house beverages
  • Children under the age of 12 eat for free
