Now everyone at EW knows that with my big white wedding coming up in just a couple of months (!), I’m game for trying out anything that’s going to get me ‘aisle ready’! So when Concept 10 10 asked if someone would like to try out a personal training session, I was the nominated the girl for the job!

20 mins a week is all you need with Concept 10 10! Not really knowing what to expect, I arrived at Concept 10 10’s studio in Jumeirah Lakes Towers to be met at the reception desk by a very friendly Rikke – who immediately put me at ease and showed me to their clean and private changing area. After getting into my gym gear I was taken into one of their private training rooms and told all about the concept behind Concept 10 10. All based on scientific research, the idea is to work each muscle group using a series of 6 state-of-the-art machines all set to high resistance, ensuring that the muscles get a really good work out. I must admit that I was feeling pretty nervous once Rikke explained to me that she will ask me to keep going on each machine until I get to the point of muscle failure! But the reality was that once I got into it, with the help of Rikke, I remained focused and worked my way through each machine until I could do no more. Literally!

A personal trainer is there to guide and motivate you.Rikke explained that to strengthen your muscles you need to exercise them slowly, which is why each exercise using the machines is done very precisely, counting to 10 on your way out and then 10 again on your way back with each exercise. Because of the intensity of the work out, only one a week is required to get yourself into tip top shape – now that’s my kind of exercise regime!!

The session lasted just 25 minutes, by which time I had worked out all of the core muscle groups in the body. Despite feeling quite tired by the end of it, I enjoyed the session and with the encouragement from Rikke, felt like I had really pushed myself. Each session with Concept 10 10 is carried out in a private, air-conditioned training room, with just yourself and your trainer, who is there to guide you through each exercise, encouraging you and motivating you to give it ‘just one more!’ with each exercise. Your trainer will set the weights for you and adapt them to suit your level and goals.
