How to take care of your dogs and cats in case your Air-Conditioning breaks down

Close all blinds and drapes to keep direct sunlight out of your house
Set up multiple fans at floor level, and aim fans at the areas your pets like to sleep (this does however not work if your AC outage is due to a power outage!!)
Wet paws, legs, and necks with cool water. This will help your pet(s) to cool off.
Offer water with chunks of ice; the ice itself won't cool them down faster, but keeping the water cold will encourage them to drink more, thus keeping them hydrated.
Keep your dogs as calm as possible to avoid heat exhaustion, and skip any walks until after dark when it will be cooler (but still humid!).
Dip your dog in cool water and cover him up with wet towels which are regularly refreshed.
