Ages:
Emerald City Nursery accepts babies from 8 weeks and children up to 5 years.
Hours and Days:
Emerald City Nursery is open Sundays to Thursdays 7:30a.m to 3:30p.m with an option of an early start of 7:00a.m or an extended option until 6:00p.m.
Meals:
The Nursery provides freshly cooked and very healthy meals both breakfast and lunch.
CCTV:
To ensure best possible safety the Nursery has CCTV cameras installed throughout the premises.
Increasing Cultural Diversity:
The Emerald City Nursery curriculum supports the cultural identity of all children, affirms and celebrates cultural differences, and aims to help children gain a positive awareness of their own and other cultures.
Communication with Parents:
Diaries – We value the use of photography as a great tool for recording children’s play and learning. Each day photographs are taken in the classroom and during outdoor play; these images highlight the children’s day and are gathered together forming a fortnightly diary which we love to share with our families.
Portfolios – Each child has their very own Learning Profile. Through an innovative approach to learning and assessment called ‘Learning Stories,’ these profiles designed by the Te Whariki (N.Z Curriculum) bring together an overview of each child’s current interests and strengths. At the end of the children’s Nursery years these portfolios illustrate a very comprehensive portrait of each child’s developmental progress.
Promethean Interactive Boards:
Installed in every classroom, these great IT learning tools allow the children to learn in a more interactive and fun manner. The children are introduced to the most modern forms of technology in a ‘hands-on’ and meaningful way.
Outdoor Play:
As we have such a beautiful garden we feel passionate about utilizing our outdoors as an ‘Extension of the Classroom’. When the weather permits we have planned activities in the garden which cover all essential learning areas from the curriculum. Each day we have an art based activity, and a variety of exciting areas for the children to explore for example, building with blocks, dancing with streamers, ice exploration, messy play, chalk and water, parachute, story reading, role-play with dress-ups and our favourite 
water play!
