Thanks a lot for the replies, specially AnneDXB. You've just done the job I was beginning to do.
I took a flyer at Du shop in MOE saying there is an "Elite" or "premium" package.
They also offer that you can have "family" members and then you will be charged when they call you instead of being charged themselves. I found it nice for the kids, yes still not sure it's so different for us as we are still paying their bill anyway...

It's good to know where we put ourselves. For the kids and me, it's ok to take the risk with DU. But for my husband, we can't take the risk of not having phone line, ect as it's his business phone...

If you have more opinions, please don't hesitate.

Thank you so much.

Personally I've been on a pre-paid number with Etisalat since 99 and had no problems.

However from a business perspective we are planning to change all our numbers to DU as their telephone services and rates are much better, as reasons stated below

Currently we are paying between AED450 & AED520 per month for Etisalat to maintian numbers that are not always active.
Etisalat is approximately AED380 for post-paid blackberry service with minimal usage.

DU is offering a Business Super Plan AED150 per month (plus once off AED55 for activation of SIM) for Blackberry and AED200 per month for Iphone. (Unlimited Data Package included)
Included national minutes bundle / month – 150
Included international minutes bundle / month - 150

We are considering going onto post-paid mobile contracts with DU and figured it might be a better option as DU offers the following:

National Calls – 0.5 fills /second - Etisalat 50 fils for every 30seconds / 35 seconds=1Dir
Calls within Buss Mobiles - 50% discount
Flat IDD rate to all major International Destinations – AED1.65 / Min (Phoning from the UAE)
International Roaming Incoming call rate – AED1.25 / Minute
National sms – 18 fills / messsage -
International sms – 60 fills / message /
Blackberry Unlimited International (optional) - AED200 / month
Du Per second billingof 0.5 fils

I've just moved and have no choice but to use DU for tv, internet, house phone, so far so good, no problems - YET! At least one thing you can say about DU is that with internet you actually do get the bandwidth you pay for, unlike Etisalat.

We've been with both with the 2 different places we have lived in Dubai. As Cryptic said, its like a lottery with whether you'll get any type of reasonable customer service or just a dumb turkey on the other end of the phone or other side of the counter. We have had nothing but major major problems with Du, and major is really an understatement. Would go with Etisalat anyday over Du, unfortunately we are now stuck with Du because of where we live. International calls and the like don't bother us as we have skype.

Really IMO when it comes to Du and Etisalat its 'same sh!t, different bucket'.

Good luck!

Its cheaper with du for International calls. I have less dropped calls than I did with etisalat. And quite honestly I will take du's customer service ANY day of the week over Etisalats who cares attitude.

I have had my issues with du, but calling them is like winning the lottery. Sometimes you get great customer service and other times you get the pure idiot on the other end who doesn't know anything.

Ok, so finally found some threads here. (search option doesn't take only 2 characters...)

It looks like some of you had very bad experience with DU customer service....
Ok, so I think we'll have to stay with the Etisalat robbery then....

Ok, so now it's time for a move.
Etisalat charged us again an astronomic amount for a extra long internet connection abroad via cell phone while we didn't use it, and of course, clamming a dispute leads to nowhere. We wtill have to pay if we want to be reconnected...

So we are seriously considering changing our phone numbers and going to Du services.

Can you give me some advices, pros and cons, comparaison of the 2 companies ?

TIA
