I really think it depends per country. For me it's Holland and if I stay registered in Holland for Health Insurance only then I have to pay tax. We have a world wide health insurance so for us it doesn't matter where we are it will be covered anyway. But otherwise it will be cheaper to get a travel insurance if you are going abroad (take note that you normally can only use that one for a max. of 90 days in a row).

Do you still have/use European Health Insurance Cards for travel to EEC countries? Have you been able to renew them if you still have a residential address in UK/EEC. TIA
