Hi
I'm thinking of sending my children there for years 6 and fs1 ... Is there long waiting lists there as well ?
Also what are the average class sizes ? And How many classes to each year ?

TIA

I have child in the senior School.
My views are pretty much like some the ones below:
Absolutely delighted with the school, best school experience so far - never seen my son happier and more involved
lots of ECAs, excellent, motivated teachers, lots of opportunities for children who strive to over acheive without being made to feel like they are nerds.
Parking situation no different from other busy places with self-important folks who block everyone else off to get 3 feet closer to the gate. we use the senior school car park, and walk up for 2 mins!
Pool - never checked if DH uses it or not! he has never complained or even mentioned the pool, and even if it did not work it is not a showstopper - I would rather he got taught at school and would be more worried if he wasn't.
Not interested if it is/ was affliated with Repton in the UK
we dont interact much with the admin teams - so no comments, on the odd time when I have called to leave a message for a teacher or DS it has always got through. we pay the fees annually in advance to avail the discount you get for doing this - hence not had to deal with their accounts dept more than once a year.

But all of us have different expectations and needs and my comments above are based on mine..

There are positivies and negatives just like in any other school, there are no perfect school, but my kids love it and they are progressing so well academically.
Security, parking and the numbers of pupils are in my opinion the 3 biggest problems
The teachers so far I've had are amazing, very qualified and so are the assistants

R does not seem that selective in admission (as other 'smaller' schools) and that explains the large number of classes. IMHO that goes against the school not for it.

I have three children at the school, one in Seniors and 2 in KS2. All 3 children have the most fantastic, approachable and inspirational teachers who seem to know and care for the children. All children are progressing well and are streamed in maths and english for their appropriate level.

It is very convenient to have all the children at the same place for pick-ups etc.

I find that the timetable is some what disjointed at times but this is due to KHDA/arabic studies.

The admin at the school can be shambolic at times.

I cannot understand why there is such a bashing of the school on this site - surely the number of childen attending speaks for itself - in many years they have increased the year group from 6 classes to 10.

I am very happy with the school and would not move them.

Pool is fine now - there was a problem with it at the beginning of the term but all sorted and the lessons are taking place fine.

Never have a problem parking but I always use the car park and don't expect - like some - that I can ruck up at the entrance and off load my kids while jamming up the whole school!

Both mine do some really good after school activities which are included in the fees. to be honest some days I have problems getting them to come home they are having so much fun and this.....for me is key.

The rumour about Repton UK was going around at least 2 years ago.....
I'd love to see the entertainment block completed and another pool but.....as far as what my kids are learning and doing - I'm a happy parent with very happy kids.

well sorry but it's still doing the rounds !!! how do things like this get started anyway ??

I heard it recently from a WIS teacher but her source seemed rather dubious and I just took it with a pinch of salt (am not connected with either school) perhaps some people just make things up...

Have a daughter in Juniors. Academic wise I am happy with the progress she is making, better than what she was doing in the UK. That may well be down to the teacher. Only our first year but very happy with the teacher. Our daughter is happy and at her age that is the important part.

I do have niggles, the majority I can't really attribute to the school as I feel they are more down to the ignorance and arrogance of some of the parents and their helpers. However, as already stated I do think the facilities are not adequate for the number of children on roll. It's great to have these things and promote how great it is that you have them, but if the children aren't benefitting from them then from a parents point, there is no point. The pool in the Juniors is again pointless if you have kids that can already swim, my DD says it's boring, but she has lessons out of school so she is still progressing.

Parking is not a problem either at drop off or pick up for me as I don't feel the need to have to park right in front of the gate, so if you don't mind a 5 min walk there is more than enough parking.

ETA - I have a daughter in Reception there, she loves it. The standard of teaching and the resources in the Early Years department are excellent. Parking and communication seems to have improved. I have a few niggles but overall I'm very happy.

4 children there, 3 in seniors, 1 in juniors. On the whole very happy. Children doing well, and simply love it, and for me this is the deciding factor.

Obviously some issues - where are there none? Probably overpriced for what they can currently offer. My biggest negative feeling is there are just too many children, so am always delighted to read when people are removing theirs!! (So probably doesn't make sense to answer this thread positively!) Also can not understand how there can be any money issues when you work out how many pupils attend and the high fees they are paying.

On the plus side, have so far had nothing but excellent teachers (bar some questionable teachers of Arabic, but this is the situation everywhere).

Car park situation - there are plenty, plenty of places. The problem is purely the arrogance/ignorance of a minority of drivers/parents, who don't stick to the rules, and so cause inconvenience to everyone else.

Swimming pool is up and running, but again, it's the number of pupils which is the problem, as one pool is just not enough for so many (there is a separate pool for the little ones, but no good for swimming lengths, etc).

Music department do wonderful things. PE department (seniors) well-organised and there is plenty going on.
