This thread has been a bit quiet lately!
Things are crazy my side...still covering 2 jobs at work until the handover to the new guy is complete so thats taken a lot of my time.
We have to move to a 2BR place, currently live in the Marina so we are looking for apartments which is an awful task given our current budget cos it seems the Marina is out of the question (or at least the nicer buildings) so been looking in other areas that we arent familiar with!
Pregnancy is going well, although I cant sleep very well anymore due to my size and leg cramps I am in desperate need for a full body massage.
Have you ladies started on baby shopping yet? I have no idea what clothes a new born would need so I havent bought anything!
Sorry for the long post, but it feels good to get all that out!

WOW CK1 am reallyy jealous as i am willing to take unpaid leave only if they allow me ...maybe i shld resign and join ur company after delivery
Another issue is the fact that some companys give 45 working days which comes up to 2 and half months whereas some give 45 calendar days which is only 1 and half month edited by Enigma1979 on 07/09/2011

Hey CC I have actually tried that but unfortunately company allows ONLY 15 CALENDAR days leave as unpaid leave and that too they may ask for justifications . The actual problem is that i dont want to spend my 9th month in office infact am trying to take off ASAP and thats why all these questions about leave
45 calendar days is less and on top of that if i even am allowed to take 15 calendar days unpaid leave , jointly it comes up to only 2 months pre and post delivery therefore the feeling of resigning creeped up. But that would honestly be such a pity to leave few days before maternity leave (after having served comapny for almost 4 yrs i would think i am entitled a good maternity leave atleast)

Hi, from what I understand law is 45 days and this is paid. You can take your annual leave before or after the 45 days. My company has been really awesome and I managed to negotiate 5 and a half months off but unfortunately this is all unpaid.

Enigma1979,
You could ask them if they will give you unpaid leave instead of quitting? I am definately trying the unpaid leave option

Enigma1979,
45 days as guaranteed by labour law. Some companies are more generous, but it is very rare.

Bump
Hi guess didnt get many replies from you guys on the maternity leave so thought would refresh, just wondering how many leaves you all are entitled to as my company is giving a meagre 45 CALENDAR DAYS ONLY which comes upto one and a half month only and unfortunately dont have many annuals left as well i really need to know ASAP cos making important decision of whether to quit now or after availing my maternity leave
Please please tell me how many leaves all you december working ladies are entitled to.

Hi Ladies,
My name is Chanell and this is my first post after reading the forum over the last couple of months and finding all the information very helpful (Thanks to all !!)
My husband and I moved to Dubai last week from Australia and we are due to have our first baby (we have being told a little boy) sometime around December 30 2011.
I would love to be involved in any activities / catch ups / baby related or otherwise too. I am not working over here, so am very flexible with timings and have a lot of free time!
I have also asked to be a member of Dubai Winter Babies on Facebook.
Looking forward to meeting you soon
Chanell

Hi I work for government and I am entitled to 2 months mat leave. Plus I plan on taking approx 4 weeks extra (annual leave) as well on top. I haven't asked about unpaid leave yet - although I guess that depends on your employee.
I am not sure how long before you give brith you can take mat leave, although the common occurance where I work is to take some sick leave before the birth (1-2 weeks) and then start your mat leave once you deliver.
I am not sure how I am going to go working in December, as by then I am going to be massive!!! I guess we will see how we go!

Hey you all , just a quick question to the December 2011 ladies. How much leave according to UAE maternity leave policy are we entitled to and how many are you working moms targeting for
I do know it is a standard 45 days in which you can add your annual leave (which in my case isnt many) but can i attached unpaid leaves to this as well and how soon before the EDD can i start my leave ......any answers would be much appreciated

Hi Amy,
We moved to Arabian Ranches a week or so ago, living in a short term rental in Al Reem 2 at the moment but have secured (fingers crossed!) a great villa in Alvorada 1 which we're due to move into in the next couple of weeks! Where are you?

Thanks TruBlu! Makes me feel tons better. But since like yesterday, I have been ravenous! Eating huge amounts constantly. I want to control it though, so I am eating very lean foods, high in proteins. Everyone is saying that I am small for my date but I saw the doc and she says baby is growing just fine. She actually called him a "big boy"! Imagine my happiness!
CapeChick: Thanks for bringing this up. I haven't bought a thing yet, partially because I want the first thing I buy to be oh so special. Like a Tiffany spoon or something (although I saw their spoons - ick). Would love to hear about what everyone else is buying....
Anyone having leg cramps?? I am feeling something similar to a Charlie Horse in my calf. Its Horrible!!Any remedy suggestions??

DC_Diva wrote: Anyone NOT hungry?
I have been reading everywhere that I'm supposed to have this ravenous appetite but until today, I am still forcing myself to eat a good dinner bigger than my M/S sized portions. Just wondering...I know its not that much of a cause for concern but am I alone?
This is my 3rd pregnancy and I was not particularly hungry throughout the first two. This time around I have twins onboard and I am slightly more hungry, but definitely not ravenous. Just listen to your body - rest assured your baby will be getting what it needs from you. It takes from you first, and then you get whats left over. My two boys are the picture of health.
