Thanks for those thoughts - it seems it won't be as easy as I had hoped - think I will have to look around for someone already operating in this field and let them get on with it...
It seems we are too restricted with options for good shoe shops here, I stock up when I am in the Uk so presume others do too..!

If you are planning to sell the shoes within the store, you will need to approach the malls with high footfall - good place to start is to see the space availability and rates in Dubai Mall, Mall of Emirates, Deira City Centre & Mirdif City Centre. Unfortunately, there are no credible sites that you could sell the shoes on here unless you will set up the online store yourself (like Dubai Babies), but can't see how someone can buy shoes online. On the other hand, may be you can approach the current stores that carry multiple brands (shoe stores or boutiques).
In terms of marketing, depending on your budget (and it will be even better if brand can give you the bigger portion of it), you could start with ads in magazines (not newspapers as the shelf life of those is 1 day and the ad price is way too high) and great PR (launch, new season collections, etc.)

check oasis mall.
regarding marketing start doing a broshure,flyer,check the men magazines, or put an add on 7days or even put the flyers in the 7days newspaper and people will receive it.

Hi there

I know about the legal Company set up but wanted some specific ideas on how people would promote it themselves - what are good online sites in Dubai that people use for example - I only know of dubixzzle and souq and they are not appropriate...

I don't see how you can use a freezone licence for this, as the Company would want to sell the item inside Dubai -

Anybody know of any Mallls with shop space?

1st choose the location , if its a free zone no need for sponser.
then you have to get the profile of the company , if its free zone lets say JLT you have to deal with DMCC in almaz tower to get approvel for the license just need to provide the lease of the place contract, the artwork of the store measurments.... and they will deal with the rest and they will help you to process your papers to get your trade license.don't worry about the marketing its easy to advertise in dubai.
if its dubai land you need to look for a local sponser and apply in the economic department, usually ur sponser should process those papers.

Hi there

I ave been looking at bringing a Copmany over that sells Mens Itlaian leahter shoes and wondered where I start, sponsers, joint ventures, parnterships, marketing.. They do alot of internet selling
Has anybody got any ideas on where I start?
