I was pregnant as well, and miserable in the summer heath...laying on the sofa and thinking I'm going insane things are moving around me...till DH called saying he was out of the tower in the media city and the alarms went off...it was pretty big deal for him, he never been through the earthquake before...so it kinda stuck with me...

I’m a rocks geek. Have you ever been to the Grand Canyon? It’s amazing to see all the layers of time and it’s stunningly beautiful. We bumped into one of the tributaries of Wadi Bani Awf - the height, the shape, the layers. Amazing! I cannot imagine the power of the water rushing through it millions of years ago ... shaping the curves ...cutting through the rocks! Have you gone through Snake Gorge?
No, sadly I didnt get to Oman. I have heard its amazing though. Nature is really amazing.

Was going to say this as well. I was pregnant with DD and it was Ramadan and we had just moved into a new office building, 12 floors in all. There weren't many staff around but the ones that were there complained the lifts weren't working...

According to the US National Earthquake Information Centre in Denver, the UAE is located on the edge of the Arabian Tectonic Plate that has been pushing against the Eurasian plate at a rate of approximately three centimetres per year.

The UAE has three local fault zones - near Dibba, between Bidyah and Jebel Salhal, and Wadi Hum. The entire mountain range along the east coast was created because of this.

I remember when all the offices were evacuated. There was also one during the night around that time.

Actually they had worse ones on the east coast. I remember one about 10 years ago when I woke up at midnight (in Al Ain) to find my whole bed shaking. I was terrified as I had my back to the door and thought someone has jumped on the bed. I was so relieved when I realised it was an earthquake that I just went back to sleep!

Who remembers being evacuated from towers?
Me..
My office really shook and the maid ran terrified from my apartment on the 16th floor. All my pictures on the walls were really crooked when I got home
