Hi

Just spotted your post. We visited the Turtle reserve at Xmas time. There is no longer a campsite there. We arrived in the dark expecting the campsite as we had stayed there a couple of times before some years back. They just told us we could put our tents up at the end of the carpark so that's what we did. It was fine.we used the bathrooms inside the visitor centre. I would urge you to contact them and book a place on the evening tour though. They are much stricter with numbers now and can booked up with tour groups.

Hi, planning a road trip to Oman in May and would like to know if anyone has any info about the current camping regs at the RaJ Turtle Reserve? The Off-Road Explorer and Lonely planet guides are a few years out of date now so can't trust that the campsites they mention even exist anymore.

From some searching it would appear that one can buy a ticket for the organised tour at the Reserve car park - this entails access to some camp. However, I've only read one report of this and can find no other info to substantiate it.

I have emailed the Turtle Reserve to see if they can advise. Don't really have money to burn staying at the Carapace Lodge so would like to camp if at all possible.

Any info from you locals in the know would be greatly appreciated.
