It's funny purplerain, I have the exact opposite opinion! Horses for courses I guess. This is only my second year at the Jazz Fest, have been on a VIP balcony both times. I love Media City as a concert venue and was a bit unsure of what to expect from the venue this year but thought it was fantastic. Love the Jazz Garden and mini souk area and think the whole place has great vibe. Thought James Blunt was fantastic, the sound was great and the food much better than last year.

I have done the Jazz for last 3 years and this year was a real let down ,,,,completley different vibe to at Media City can't say why particularly just was - sound was also really bad ,,,,, can't access food - we had hospitality and just very rubbish service and set up ,,,, a real let down - and from what I heard most thought the same - now for James Blunt erhhh yawn yawn - what bore !!!!! anyway lets hope they do something about stand get it back on track like it used to be as it was fab before !!!

another quick question... how cold was it.. dont know what to wear? looking forward to Mraz yay!

I was there last Thursday and the weather was super nice! I had long pants and short sleeve top on but brought along a shawl just in case. The breeze did pick up slightly half way through so the shawl was nice to have around, but once it died down, I didn't need it. Yay...I am going to see Mraz too!

All the front seating, middle seating and standing areas are all fenced with their own entrances guarded, just not sure if there is direct access to the food concessions on the other side or not (sorry, was not paying attention to that side). If not, may just have to walk the extra hundred meters around to get to the food. No need to pack sandwiches

Thanks v much Sarahgypsyrose, that's what I needed to know. I'm assuming that the standing room people can access the bars and food concessions can they? Its not clear to see from the map how they are able to monitor who goes where and I don't want to get there and find I should have packed sandwiches!!

The standing area is the third section from the main stage. The area is quite large, and I saw quite a few people with blankets to lay down on, (even without blankets, the grass was really nice) however, I am not sure if they were able to see the stage or not. There are food stalls/bars to the left of the stage hosted by Intercontinental.

Here is the link for the map of the venue

Enjoy!

I'm going to the Jazz Festival this Friday - we have bought standing room tickets. Can anyone who has been please tell me what we will be able to access in terms of catering in that area and whether there is any chance of being able to sit down between the acts - eg. a grassy area, picnic tables etc. I'm really struggling to understand the layout from what I've read so far so some insider information would help! Thanks.

I heard the food is great but cannot tell you what the area is like :-)

Must add that DFC is a fab venue too; the arrangements professional; loads of shuttles service, many event organising staff on ground so crowd was managed seamlessly. Intercontinental beverage and food stall were amazing....and to top it all James Blunt was a sight for sore eyes !

It does seem very odd to move it from such a fab location as Media City. I'm still umming and ahhing about going to FC. Where do you go for a drink and a chill out, the roof terrace at the Radison was lovely. And getting squashed standing up? Not looking forward to that.

Media City does still have the Taste of Dubai. Shame about the marathon but I can certainly see why moving it to the shadow of the Burj Khalifa would appear on the international stage.

I agree strange decision to move the location. Media City has also lost the Marathon this year, maybe someone has upset someone else who may just be in a position of authority?!?!?
