Haven't read all replies...sorry...bath and bed time here!

We went to Istabul for ten days with our children, then 5, 3 & under 12 months. We used a Phil&Ted's buggy every day (the only time I've ever loved it...lol) and also had an Ergo carrier with us. It was a bit fiddly getting on and off public transport with the buggy but Turkish people ADORE children and someone always jumped forward to help us.

You could get by with just a good carrier.

Istabul is amazing!! Have a wonderful holiday.

Hi angel_joy. Most of the time I just came back to the hotel to feed the baby every couple of hours since that was easier. Having said that, I did see a couple of ladies in parks/squares feeding their babies under cover.

One more thing. I suggest you carry the car seat your baby is comfortable with, since most tourist taxis there don't have a car seat and when they did, it was always too big and not right for our baby

Hi angel_joy,

we did our first post baby vacation in Istanbul when she was about 4 months old, and we had a fabulous time!! So don't worry at all!!
A couple of tips
1. I suggest you stay close to the Sultanahmet area if its your first time in Istanbul. Nearly all the famous landmarks are in a row literally, so you can do some sight seeing or shopping and come back to the hotel room for a nap before heading out again
2. There are a lot of lovely parks and green areas in Istanbul which are EXCELLENT for strollers. We didn't have a lot of problem with the strollers. My husband needed to help lift it off the kerb a couple of days, and if I went for a walk alone, then some or the other wonderful local always helped me get it up the steps/kerbs
3. Turkish people loooove babies. Prepare to have your bubba smiled at, stared at and coddled by all and sundry. Our little one was thrilled with all the attention!!
4. For the flight at that age, all I can recommend is to carry as many distractions (pacifiers, toys, rattles- whatever your baby loves) as you can, and to steel yourself for a bit of fussing. Your baby will be fine.

Before I had my child we were the kinds who would head out early in the morning on a vacation and return to our hotel after sampling the nightlife only to sleep till the next morning. We can't have those vacations with a baby any more- but if you lower your expectations a bit, am sure you will have a wonderful time!

Since I just visited the place three months ago with a baby PM me if you have any other questions
Enjoy your holiday

so after having itch in his hands for few days(since he has known that we are having eid holidays for 7 days) my dh has finally booked istanbul tour for eid holidays. this is the first time ever when i am not excited about travelling. we could have gone back home, might be i could have got some time to myself to relax. but there has been no travel since past year and we both have travel bugs Big Grin
i am too skeptical to fly with a baby. i have been reading forums and it says its absolutely painful to lug strollers there
what can be done there with the baby? i don't want to disrupt his schedule too much neither i want to spend all my time in the hotel room! please share your experiences of istanbul and also any travel advice is welcomed with the baby. we have already booked our hotel in the taksim area.(forgot the name!) TIA
