Here are some rough guidelines as to when you need to toss out the old makeup sitting at the back for your drawer.

Make-up Expiration Dates

Just because there are no expiration dates on your makeup doesn’t mean that they last forever. In fact, most of them should be tossed out within 3 months to a year of being opened.

Here are some rough guidelines as to when you need to toss out the old makeup sitting at the back for your drawer.

Eyes:
Mascara — 3 months. Sooner if it gets flaky.
Eyeliner (pencil) — Up to 2 years.
Eyeliner (liquid) — 6 months or less.
Eyeshadow (powder) — 1 year.
Eyeshadow (cream) — 6 to 12 months.

Lips:
Lipliner (pencils) — up to 2 years.
Lipstick — 1 year to 2 years.

Powders, moisturisers, and concealers:
Liquid Foundation and Concealer — 6 to 12 months.
Blush (Cream) — 6 to 12 months.
Blush (Powder) — 1 year.
Moisturisers and Skin Care — 1 to 2 years.
Toner — 6 to 12 months of use or sooner if there is cloudiness.
