An Elegant VIP Morning

Relaxing and enlightening was the way our #ExpatWoman ladies of Abu Dhabi spent their morning at the elegant St Regis Hotel, National Tower Corniche.

Archer Dental and Dermatology Center LLC were proudly collaborating with ExpatWoman to host an exclusive event on skin care - ageing skin in particular – something which, we can all relate to in some way another at some points in our lives.

The morning was fantastic and very informal. There was light refreshments and comfortable seating to enjoy while Dr. Betsy Narayan spoke and gave an intriguing presentation on skin care. She was the keynote speaker at the event, and her talk was fun, relaxed and very informative. All sorts of facts were learnt and myths were busted about skin care! Plus, her credentials are second to none. Dr. Narayan graduated with an MBBS in May 2003 from the Government Medical College Trivandrum, before gaining her MD (DVL) from the Government Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad in 2007. She has been involved personally in several clinical studies related to skin conditions and has been published in leading journals on clinical dermatology cases. She has trained under Dr. Thomas Rohrer and Dr. Jeffrey Dover, two of the world’s pre-eminent laser and cosmetology consultants. Dr. Narayan is a member of the Women’s Dermatology Society (WDS), the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) and the Indian association of Dermatology and Venereology (IADVL). Dr. Betsy Narayan is the go to expert in Abu Dhabi for dermatology.

Dr. Betsy’s approach to skin care was simple, her advice was based on scientific research and openly stated “I cannot recommend it if I do not believe in it.” A well-read Dermatologist at Archer, she enforced time and time again the basics steps of skin care that can help all of us slow down the signs of ageing. I know I am as guilty as the next woman of changing products constantly, desperately searching for the ‘miracle fix it’ lotion for all my skin problems. Dr. Betsy taught us that if your skin is comfortable with a product “go with it”. She also reinforced that classic rule we know - but do not always stick to - is to protect our skin from the sun. Not just by wearing SPF, but by stopping the UVA and UVB rays even touching any part of your skin. Both are damaging to your skin and the rays can even reach you through glass. So we need to be careful in cars and our homes.

Following her presentation a very interactive question and answer session followed. It was great chance to confirm or disregard those rumors about skin care routine. We learnt the importance of starting young when it comes to skin care. There is no need to worry if we have started later on in life as she recommended the best treatments and therapies to help us reverse signs of ageing and help us have younger and healthy looking skin.

Archer Dental and Dermatology Center Dental LLC gave away some fantastic and generous prizes to round up the event. The #ExpatWoman ladies of Abu Dhabi won 10 transformative gifts in the Archer raffle! “Archer seems to be a professional group with well-educated physicians. Dr. Nayahan (spelling?) presented well the services of this group from a dermatological stand point. She was gracious and patient with all questions that were asked in the group forum.

I'm sure there were a lot of ladies like myself gained some interesting tips on looking after our skin.

Although I haven't been to any other mornings to compare, I thought it was a friendly, well thought out event.
The buffet was light and refreshing , and seemed to be enjoyed by all .

She has undergone extensive training in the U.S. at The Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, and at the Skin Care Physicians Clinic, Boston in the advanced use of lasers and body contouring procedures. She has also undertaken the Preceptorship Program in Los Angeles on Facial Aesthetic Procedures with Injectable Agents, under Dr. Rebecca Fitzgerald. In addition she has trained under Dr. Thomas Rohrer and Dr. Jeffrey Dover, two of the world’s pre-eminent laser and cosmetology consultants.
