The Hotel (Series 2)

the hotel grovesnor channel 4 series

EW Says If you thought the first season of this reality TV show taking a look at the all the nitty gritty of running a hotel was good- prepare to be blown away by this new series!! Set in the English Riveira, Torquay, The Grovesnor Hotel is owned by the enigmatic slash borderline crazy multiple entrpreneur and one time triple millionaire, Mark. The show features him, all his foibles, his mum and son, the hotel guest and his motley crew of staff.

Current highlights include Dolphin jockey racing, a bingo machine reincarnated from the 1950s, a new fine dining menu for the "posh" restaurant featuring prawn cocktail and profiteroles with butterscotch sauce... we could go on. Mr & Mrs Tickle are also comedy gold!

This is car crash TV at its best! It does have its touching moments especially with insights into the guests lives: the story of the son taking his father on holiday for the first time since his wife passed away is heart breaking to watch!

The Grosvenor in Torquay is a three-star hotel with a difference...

Manager Mark Jenkins is a seaside hotel entrepreneur who lives alone in one of his own guest bedrooms. With help from his trusted team- Alison, the reservations manager, and Christian, the deputy manager- they cater for coachloads of the Great British Public, who flock there for seaside fun, bringing all their baggage with them.

Mark has a track record of turning failing seaside hotels around. His formula is simple: buy the place outright, keep all the existing staff, discount the room rate and ramp up the entertainment...

Cue more magic - and mayhem - for a summer season at The Hotel.

Watch Series 1 set in the Lake District's Damson Dene Hotel for more comedy moments.

From the team behind Bafta-winning One Born Every Minute, this series reveals life in a British hotel as it's never been seen before. Nestling in the five-star setting of the Lake District is The Damson Dene, a typical three-star British holiday hotel. In charge are Jonathan, the suave owner; Kirk, the creative chef; and Wayne, the ambitious general manager.

Underneath them are a staff of 20 waiters, chambermaids and housekeepers, nearly all of whom come from Eastern Europe and are still learning to speak English. Together they cater for the great British public, who come away for weekend breaks bringing all their baggage with them.

The Hotel documents life both upstairs and downstairs over a busy summer season as the worlds of the staff and the guests collide.
