UAE National Day is celebrated on 2nd December each year for two days or more (usually on the 2nd and 3rd). It marks the UAE's formal nationalization from the British Protectorate Treaties which ended on December 1, 1971 and the eventual unification of the seven emirates in 1971 which combined to form the modern-day country.
Residents and visitors to the UAE can expect to join in plenty of events and activities that are currently being planned for this year's celebrations, which will highlight the UAE's values, heritage, culture and achievements.
Car Decoration Guidelines
Guidelines have been issued for the UAE National Day celebrations that drivers are expected to follow and respect over the holiday period.
Roads will be monitored by Dubai Police to ensure the guidelines are upkept across the Emirates.
The guidelines include:
- Motorists are prohibited from changing the colour of their vehicles and posting inappropriate and/or obscene words and phrases on the car’s body
- Vehicles are prohibited from carrying more than the permitted number of people and passengers are warned against sticking any part of their body out of the vehicle
- Motorists are warned against installing a flag, obscuring the windshield and front-door windows with tint or sprays and stopping their vehicles in the middle of the road
- The directorate also warned motorists against disrupting the flow of traffic, parking on main and internal roads, parking on bus stops and taxi stations
- Installing parts that increase noises of vehicles or performing any alterations to the engines are not allowed
- Do not to use sprays to tint the windshield or the driver’s window
