Al Maqta Tower

The 200 year old tower, sitting in the water is first visible when approaching Al Maqta Bridge linking Abu Dhabi Island with the mainland. Al Maqta Tower served as a watch tower against invading bandits. Now a cherished testament to the emirate’s history, the tower has been carefully restored and houses a tourism information centre. It is a stark contrast to the modern Maqta Bridge sitting alongside it. One must be careful when taking photos here, it is in a sensitive military Zone.
