The Scottish St Andrews Society of Abu Dhabi

The Scottish St Andrews Society of Abu Dhabi was established more than 40 years ago, it is a non profit volunteer organisation that aims to foster social activities and friendly relations among the Scottish people and their families resident in Abu Dhabi, and the citizens of Abu Dhabi, and to organise, promote and celebrate Scottish cultural events and anniversaries.

The Society has a growing membership who currently enjoy many social based activities, a once a month ‘Sundowner Evening’ where members new and old can get together. The most significant events are the Burns Night in January, the Chieftains Ball in May and the St Andrews Ball in November. In addition to these set celebrations, there are golf days, dhow dinner cruises and field trips that appeal to the disparate nature of the membership.
Each year all four 'Tribal Groups', the Irish, the Welsh, the English and the Scots and friends hold a function that would appeal to all concerned. This usually takes place in September/October.
Through these social activities, the Society also raises funds and is actively involved in supporting charities in Scotland and in Abu Dhabi. In particular The Special Care Centre for Children Abu Dhabi.
