Animal Charities & Rescue Organisation in Abu Dhabi

animal action abu dhabiAnimal Action Abu Dhabi www.facebook.com/AnimalActionAbuDhabi
A group of volunteers dedicated entirely to helping the animals in our region! Our mission is to Save All Creatures Great And Small!! We hope to educate, bring pet lovers up-to-date, hold discussions on the latest news concerning animals, give suggestions on where to leave your pet for the summer months for those living in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and the list goes on!! We hope to create a friendly and more informed community!!
Please remember- we have full time jobs other than this, our volunteer job, so please wait for us to get back to you if you leave a comment or send an email. Sometimes due to the number of emails that come in, we may need a reminder. ;)

We are extremely proud animal lovers. We are also extremely proud of all our foster families and helpers!!
We are doing this solely for the creatures that have no voice! We would love it if you would join us! We can be the change. Help us help animals whether it be swapping great recipes to make for your dogs, making everyone aware about a new animal petition in town, finding new owners for stray animals etc. With the huge amount of strays, we do focus on rehoming cats and dogs more than anything.

We would not be able to do this without all the help of the foster families, those who share all our images, those who post ads up for us, those who Twitter for us, those that make donations, and those that feed the strays, and so we are very grateful.

The Abu Dhabi Animal Shelter for stray cats and dogs for Abu Dhabi Emirate has been established following the decision of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council of Abu Dhabi government on 15th April 2010.

The Abu Dhabi Executive Council issued in this decision that the Abu Dhabi Animal Shelter will be managed by Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital. The decision was based on a proposal regarding the establishment of an animal shelter for cats and dogs for Abu Dhabi Emirate that had taken into consideration the best international practices for dealing with feral cats and stray dogs in Europe, USA and Australia.

The decision of establishing the first Animal Shelter for Abu Dhabi Emirate underlines the great efforts of the Abu Dhabi government to set a role model for animal welfare on a national, regional and international level.

On June 1st 2010, Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital started to neuter all feral cats and dogs in the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program as only authorized veterinary hospital for the Emirate. The program was set up in 2 phases. Phase 1 was the return of neutered cats in the area where they have been coming from whereas the dogs stayed already in the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital waiting for adoption.

The 2nd phase started after the opening of the newly constructed Abu Dhabi Animal Shelter catteries and dog kennels where all homable cats and dogs will be kept for adoption. Cats that cannot be rehomed will be returned back to their original place again following the neutering.

The Abu Dhabi Animal Shelter is located at the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital Site between Abu Dhabi International Airport and Al Shamkha. The treatment of the cats and dogs of the Animal Shelter is provided by the ADFH Pet Care Center.
