If you are moving to Azerbaijan with your pets there are some rules that you have to follow. You can bring your pets from your home country without encountering any major setbacks, as Azerbaijan has no restriction on the importation of pets as long as they have their vaccination records in order and the necessary health certificate.

In Azerbaijan the State Veterinary Department is responsible for the animals of Azerbaijan and they can take care of vaccinations, microchipping and sterilization of your animal.

According to movers.com these are the regulations for importing pets to Azerbaijan:

Inoculate the pet against rabies at least 30 days before entering Azerbaijan. No other vaccinations are required.

Obtain an International health certificate for the export of animals from the United States completed by an accredited veterinarian who certifies animal health status, conducts tests, and records test results for the individual animals being exported. A USDA area office must endorse completed and signed international health certificates for the export of animals from the United States in order to be valid.

Upon arrival in Baku, a veterinary doctor at the airport will examine your pet and the relevant documents. The paperwork is acceptable in English.

Rules of pet ownership

All animals should be vaccinated against infectious diseases.

Dogs must be kept on a leash when in public areas.

Large dogs must additionally be muzzled, and owners must have signs outside their home warning the public that there is a dangerous dog inside as a safety precaution.

A family can only keep one dog and two cats in an apartment.

Dogs are not permitted to enter cafes, restaurants or places where food is sold and eaten. They may not enter children’s play areas.

It is not a requirement to have your pet microchipped, however it is recommended.
