Getting Your Tourist Visa for Azerbaijan

To begin with, all travellers to the country - apart from citizens of most Commonwealth of Independent State (CIS) countries - should gain an entry visa prior to travelling.

Do I need a tourist visa?
If you're unsure whether you need one or not, the purpose of the tourist visa to visit the Republic of Azerbaijan is to suite foreigners and stateless persons who visit as a tourist. Anyone entering the country on a tourist visa is able to stay for a period of 30 days. 

If you are from any of the one countries listed here, you may visit Azerbaijan visa-free as part of the bilateral agreements Azerbaijan Republic applies in their visa-free regime for citizens of the countries. 

How to obtain your tourist visa
There are necessary papers that must be provided when obtaining your visa, which should include a document that proves the purpos of your trip is for tourism only. For example, a tourist voucher, passenger ticket or a hotel, camping or tourist based voucher may be used. Other documents are included as per Article 36 of the Migration Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 

There are two ways in which you can gain your tourist visa; as an e-visa, or in person at an Azerbaijan embassy/consulte.

Getting your e-visa
Tourists visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan may obtain an e-visa via a credited and trusted tourist agency. Visitors to the country may gain their e-visa by applying directly to a tourist agency accredited by the appropriate authority of the Republic of Azerbaijan or through partners of that agency in your own country. 

You must provide the following to the travel agency to complete your e-visa application:

  • scanned copies of your passport

  • a passport-sized photograph of yourself

  • documents to prove the touristic purpose of the trip

Once complete, you may expect to wait up to or around ten days after they have been received. If you visa application is successful, an email will be sent to the travel agency through which you organised it. 

If it is rejected, relevantly justifed information will be provided. 

Please be aware that tehre is a state fee in an amount defined by legistlation to be paid for issuance of your e-visa. If you require an urgent tourist visa application, an urgent 4-5 day service is available, just check with the tourist agency through which you arrange the visa.

What if I just need a transit visa?
Transit visas are issued to foreigners travelling to other coutnries via the Republic of Azerbaijan. A transit visa will allow you to stay a maximum of five days in the country on your journey elsewhere.

What if I need a multiple-entry visa?
These are issued for a period of one to two years for foreigners working at diplomatic and other representative offices of foreign countries in the Republic of Azerbaijan, those working for consulates and branch offices of international organizations and their family members, those traveling to Azerbaijan to receive education or attend courses for raising qualifications or other foreigners traveling to the country in connection with its interests on the basis of a list approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
