2017 Eid al Adha Dates Announced After Zul Hijjah Moon Sighting

The Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia announced on Tuesday, August 22 that the Zul Hijjah crescent was sighted during sunset and that Zul Hijjah started on Wednesday, August 23 reported the Khaleej Times.

Furthermore, they confirmed that Arafat Day will fall on August 31st, 2017 and Eid Al Adha on September 1st, 2017.

Islamic religious holidays are on set days according to the Islamic calendar which is a lunar calendar.

As the Gregorian calendar is a solar calendar, these religious holidays don’t always fall on the same date of this more mainstream calendar.
