Charities in Bahrain

If you are particularly philanthropic or are in need of assistance yourself this is a list of charitable organisations that ExpatWoman has put together. All the organisations operate within Bahrain and are easy to reach. Organisations such as the ones listed below are not only looking for a monetary donation (though this kind of contribution goes the longest way), they also need donations of time, food, old clothing and other tangible items that you may have lying around your house. So next time you find yourself thinking that you should be doing something, take some time and visit one of these charities or find out more how you can help. 


Think Pink

Think Pink Bahrain 
Breast cancer is not race, religion or class orientated. It is only with research, education, early intervention and public awareness that we can fight this disease. Think Pink Bahrain is a non-profit organization that was founded by Ms. Julie Sprakel in 2004. Over the years, the money raised has been directed to the National Campaign for the Early Detection of Breast Disease, which screens Bahraini women over the age of 40. Think Pink Bahrain is dedicated to increasing breast cancer awareness issue, especially early detection, thereby saving lives. Read more>>

The Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioral & Communication Difficulties
The mission of the Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioral & Communication Difficulties is to promote lifelong access and opportunity for all individuals with Behavioral & communication difficulties, and their families, to be fully participating, included members of their community. Education, advocacy at all levels, active public awareness and the promotion of research form the cornerstones of the society’s efforts to carry forth its mission. Read more>>


Alia

Alia For Early Intervention 
Alia For Early Intervention offers evaluation, early Intervention Services and case management to eligible children and their families. Children eligible for services must be: at least eighteen months of age at the time of referral, and suspected of developmental delay or diagnosed with a physical or mental condition, resulting in a high probability of delay in specific areas. The palm association

The Palm Association
The Palm Association was created to help people with the most basic of needs. The cornerstone of the association is our Feed-a-Family Programme. Sponsorship of the Feed-a-Family programme permits us to provide and distribute approximately 155 food parcels to the value of BD20 every month to impoverished Bahraini families. Each family, identified by our trusted community contacts to be facing difficult financial situations, survive on the bare minimum due to unforeseen or unfortunate circumstances such as the death of a spouse, loss of employment, divorce, accident, disability or illness. Migrant workers protection society

Migrant Workers Protection Society
Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS) was established in 2005 under license (25/S/S) from the Ministry of Social Development. Our Mission Statement is to seek to help expatriate workers achieve their basic human rights in accordance with internationally recognized standards. We are the only society in the region to work exclusively in support of the expatriate worker community, as far as we are aware. Read more>>


The Dogfather

The Second Chance Animal Rescue Centre
The Second Chance Animal Rescue Centre was set up by Tony Waters ('The Dogfather') approximately 10 years ago. With the help of two full time staff and a small team of committed volunteers, the centre currently cares for more than 200 dogs, cats, birds and a ferret; all of these animals have been abandoned, neglected and/or mistreated. The centre is in the grounds of a villa just off the Budaiya highway. Read more>>
