The Role
The British Embassy in Dubai has a vacancy for a temporary Driver starting May 2014. This requirement is to provide leave cover and for when extra transportation is required for staff & officials to appointments and events . The  candidate should be familiar with the route and journey times. The vehicles used are 4 x 4 and small SUVs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive Embassy staff and officials to appointments and events as required. Ensure travel log & vehicle cheques are kept up to date on a daily basis and presented to Corporate Services as required. Keep official vehicles interior and exterior clean and in good working order promptly reporting any defects to line manager.To take on other driving duties as required by Corporate Services .

You may be required to take part in the Embassy emergency planning and any response to a Crisis.

Key Selection Criteria
  • Essential:
    • You must hold a valid UAE driving licence.
    • Legal residency in the UAE as sponsorship cannot be offered
    • Geographical knowledge of Dubai and Northern Emirates.
    • Excellent driving skills(this will be tested)
    • Should be able to read, write and speak Basic English(this will be tested)
    • Other useful languages(oral – operational) including Arabic Parsi Urdu and Hindi
    • A team player who is capable of working on their own initiative and confident communicator with staff at all levels.
  • Desirable:
    • Evasive driving experience an advantage
    • Adaptable and flexible, possessing a positive attitude
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and Customer Care skills
    • Well presented and happy to wear a uniform (that respects all religions/beliefs).

Working Hours and Remuneration
The Embassy offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: salary of AED 3,569 per month, inclusive of all allowances, Band 8; free on-site parking and free access to on-site swimming pool, gymnasium and sports facilities.

Conditioned working hours are 38 hours per week. Standard working hours are from 07.30 am until 2.30 pm on Sunday to Thursday.

Potential candidates will be invited to take a short assessment, only those who pass the assessment will be invited back for an interview. The successful candidates will be required to undergo security vetting procedures

Please note candidates must have legal residency in the UAE as sponsorship cannot be offered.
