Hi there
As I write the house is drying out from last night’s fantastic storm and the dust has thankfully settled. What a weekend…. My son was playing rugby at the Sevens all weekend so I am now a new woman courtesy of the constant sand blasting I endured! I have lost layers of skin. I much prefer my dermabrasion relaxing in a spa!
I was lucky enough to be invited to the Men’s Tennis Finals courtesy of Jacobs Creek (thank you David and Paul) and it was a great evening, despite rain stopping play, we were hoping to spot Cliff Richard singing a song but sadly he was missing and the crowds didn’t hang around for too long.

Dubai hosts some amazing events including the recent Jazz festival, the upcoming
Paulo Nuttni and of the course the legend that is Rod Stewart (
watch this space ladies - we've got a fab competition coming up) and often we forget how lucky we are; if you lived in the UK there would be a mad scramble for tickets and an equally long journey to get to the venue.

Talking of great
events, during February we enjoyed some great mornings. Breakfast on the
Brilliance of the Seas, the
Royal Caribbean Ship was great fun, even if getting 150 security passes completed was probably more stress than Andrea, our lovely events manager, needed! The breakfast was superb and we all enjoyed seeing how the other half travel. Lynne Payne our Cruise Winner is off this week for her trip, safe travels. Make sure you let us know how it goes.
The trip to
Um Al Qwain was equally fun with the ladies enjoying a smaller vessel and rumours abound that Andrea was seen whizzing down a slide into the sea. Thank you Holiday Autos for arranging the Bus.
The
Education evening proved very interesting to many parents, some who had come from Deira to find the answers to which school was the correct one for them.
Cookery with the JW Marriott was immense fun and we are looking at
arranging a Lebanese Cooking Morning for later in the year, to tie in with the new look Lebanese restaurant at the hotel.

If you are planning your holidays then keep an eye out for our coffee morning with Arabian Pacific, the guys are ex Trailfinders from the UK and really know their stuff. Checkout their page for details of fantastic African safaris as well as other holidays, they can produce anything from a two day camping trip t something far more elaborate.

Mothers Day is of course just around the corner and once again we will be celebrating with an
Afternoon Tea and Fashion Show at Mahi, Mahi at the Wafi, on 14
th March. Tickets are available from all
ExpatWoman coffee mornings. Oasis Fashions and Purely Pearls will be on hand to give you tips on Race Wear ready for the big day at the end of the month. Make sure you treat yourself to something lovely if you cant get your husband or children to do it for you.
Meydan looks amazing and I am sure the World Cup will be a huge success, there are lots of rumours around re the entertainment so keep your ears to the ground. Of course the big news is Sting will play there on 4th March.
Whilst I won’t be galloping out at the World Cup I will be galloping in Mushrif Park where I have discovered the best horse riding experience in Dubai. If you are at all interested in horse rending this is one experience not to be missed, get some friends together and enjoy.

As regular readers of my mutterings will know I am a huge fan of
Reflections Salon on Al Wasl Road so I was delighted to learn that their new range of products, Mastey is not only totally ammonia free but the shampoos are also free of sulphites. I have recently had my hair coloured using the new range, the colours is great as is the condition of my hair. The products came even be used on small babies.
Taylor Bell kitchens have a great offer during March, buy a new kitchen and they will provide the worktop (including granite) for free. What are you waiting for? Spruce up your space.
Thank you Marks and Spencer for the yummy cakes last month, we look forward to more!
And if you are leaving Dubai then call Santa Fe relocations and removals to assist with the smooth packing of all your prized possessions.
If you are new to Dubai do please break the ice and come along to one of our coffee mornings, Jude, Helga and Jo are very friendly and will ensure you go home having made some great connections.
Wishing you all a great month.
Sallie
