While the views from the ground are undoubtedly fantastic when it comes to the newly-filled Dubai Canal, a picture recently shared shows the magnificence of the entire development.

This stunning photography was taken from space by DubaiSat-2, a satellite operated by Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre. Check it out!

The image shows, in detail, the Dubai Canal - now filled with water, hurray! - and the surrounding retail, residential and hospitality outlets along its edges. Also captured clearly are the new traffic and pedestrian bridges that have been built over the waterway, that now connects Dubai Creek to the Arabian Gulf through Dubai's beloved Safa Park.

Thanks to the Dubai Canal, areas like Downtown Dubai, Bur Dubai and Habtoor City now exist on a water-locked island.

Not only that, but we can clearly see the changes to Jumeirah's beach and shoreline, with the extension visible in the snapshot.

The huge 3.2 kilometre canal is surely a great development in Dubai's ever-changing landscape, and we're very much looking forward to seeing the entire project complete, as there'll be lots of new restaurants, retail outlets, hotels and attractions to enjoy along the canal.

Here's a resident's snap of the new canal, captioned "Dubai Canal open for business", ha! And check out the boat, too! A fully functioning canal is almost complete!

It's most definitely a beautiful view at sunset...
