The Dubai Safari is Nearing Completion

One of the most highly anticipated attractions in the Emirate, the Dubai Safari, is nearing completion. Here's the latest updates

The Dubai Safari is Nearing Completion
The opening date for the Dubai Safari has been postponed on numerous occasions, with many of us believing it would be finished already.

The delay, caused by summer-related setbacks last year, meant that the park missed its January 2017 launch date.

Nonetheless, all is forgiven as it seems the park is nearing completion, finally. And with up to 10,000 animals planned to make the new park their home, we're sure the end result is going to be phenomenal.

Located in Al Warqa'a 5, the 119-hectare animal sanctury being built by Dubai Municipality (DM) will be split into a number of main villages, and visitors will be transported between the major attractions (in eco-friendly, solar powered cars of course).

Fun fact: the new Dubai Safari is that big, it's twice the size of Vatican City in Rome.

The sanctuary will be split into different areas

The eight major zones are as follows: the entrance plaza, the children's zoo, Arabian safari, Asian village, African village, safari village, Al Wadi and service areas.

On the DM website, the project objective is "to provide a unique recreational and educational attraction through comprehensive displays of local and foreign animal species."

Of course, anyone living in Dubai will be familiar with the very old Dubai Zoo in Jumeirah - which, by the way, is due to shut down soon and the animals will be relocated to the new, far larger site.

This week, Dubai Municipality shared a video on their Twitter account that shows HE Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, touring the sanctuary to inspect the latest updates and developments to the project... And while it doesn't reveal too much, we're happy to see a bunch of alligators basking in the sunshine.

No opening date has been given for the park's opening.

However, a statement from DM said the park will be completed "within the next few months", Gulf News reported.

What else will be there? There'll be a valley, which will be supported by solar power, which has been set-up in an area of 7.5 hectares... It will include a waterfall, a stream and a lake for fish, with lots of wooden bridges around, too.

Visitors to the park will travel through electric vehicles, and there will be plenty of opportunities for people to closely interact with the animals.
