The Passport Index 2017 results have been released and the UAE passport is officially the most powerful passport in the GCC.

Arton Global, who released the index, is a global advisory firm for residence and citizenship solutions. How powerful a passport is, is determined by the score according to the number of countries you can enter without requiring a visa or being able to get a visa on arrival. The higher the score, the more powerful the passport.

UAE was overall ranked in 26th place but came in first place in the Gulf region.

UAE passport holders can visit 128 countries without a visa or receive a visa on arrival. Some of these countries include Fiji, Iceland, Italy, Madagascar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland.
