It Is Now Mandatory for All Dubai Taxis to Have Child Car Seats

A series of new laws and regulations came into effect across the country on July 1st, which will see speeding, driving without a seatbelt and veering across lanes heavily punished.

However - one particular part of those new regulations will be hugely beneficial for parents of babies, toddlers and small children.

Taxis across the UAE must now have a minimum of two car seats available at all times.

These seats will always be available for parents travelling in the country with children, and they would be stored in the boot of the car until required.

Of course, the recent changes and updated laws aim to educate drivers on safe driving, while also helping to improve road safety for all.

Major General Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, Assistant Commander in Chief of the Dubai Police for Operational Affairs, and Director of the Federal Traffic Council, stated: “Violators who do not provide children with seats in their vehicles will be stopped and advised about the safety of children.”

Violators will be fined AED 400 per offence.

Many of us have seen the familiar sight of children riding up front with their parents, or roaming freely in the back of the car… So hopefully these rules will aim to reduce that from happening, or else parents and drivers will face penalties if caught.
