In the land of ambition and opportunity, the latest addition to Dubai's long list of achievements is the planned introduction of flying taxis.

While at first the idea may have stumped most of us, the idea of having flying taxi's in the skies is getting closer to being a reality. In fact - test flights have been conducted around Dubai recently that have proven successful.

If you haven't spotted them for yourself, a video has been released by the manufacturers EHANG that show the autonomous aerial vehicles flying around.

Earlier this year we reported that the flying cars were expected to fill Dubai's skies this July, however that has now been postponed to a little later this year.

How does the flying car work?

The Ehang 184 AAV is fitted with a touchscreen infront of the passenger seat, which will display a map of all destinations. It will have preset routes installed, and the passenger will be able to select their intended destination.

Once selected, the vehicle will then begin automatically, and will take-off and cruise to the set destination before descending and landing in a specific spot.

The AAVs are designed to fly for a maximum of 30 minutes, with a maximum cruising speed of 160km/h, and the standard speed in Dubai is likely to be set to 100km/h.
