Been Flashed? You May Not Have Received a Fine

A lot of us are guilty of setting off the speed cameras in the past, but now it could be just a friendly reminder!

In an effort to crackdown on bad driving behaviour, the RTA and Dubai Police have been actively working together to increase the monitoring of Dubai's roads.

Part of this scheme has been the implementation of mobile radars across the Emirate... But while your first reaction might be to panic, there is an alternate agenda to them besides sharing out fines

Mobile radars in Dubai

Over 500 new 'friendly-radars' have been introduced in various locations across Dubai with the purpsoe of telling you to slow down.

Indeed, if you find yourself flashed by a mobile radar - it won't necessarily mean you've received a fine. While it's still good form to check your account, you may find that instead you received a gentle hint to reduce your speed. After all, with Dubai's speed limits under review, it's always best to be on the safe side and abide by the limits shown on the road signs.

The announcement also follows concerns by road users who have been flashed, but were driving at the or under the appropriate speed.

Officials have said that while spread out across locations in Dubai, the mobile radars should not bother or distract motorists who follow the laws of the roads.

Danger on Dubai's roads

In 2016, there was three reasons for fatal accidents on the roads, with inconsiderate driving topping off the list of reasons, followed by a sudden swerve and also drivers not leaving enough distance between their fellow road users.

Plus, over speeding is also a major factor behind accidents that occur.

There are fines in place for dangerous drivers from the RTA and Dubai Police, and if you're taking to the roads for the first time, it helps to gain some advice about driving in Dubai to get you started and prepared.
