A host of Santa's little helps tips to make this festive holiday the best yet.

Involving the whole family in the Christmas preparations can help to spread festive joy; task your children to recreate this Gingerbread house by the French Bakery, available to try at the Dubai Christmas Festival this year.

As the countdown to the festive season begins, the team behind the Dubai Christmas Festival has pulled together their top tips for a stress-free holiday period, from keeping the kids entertained to purchasing those last minute gifts.

Plan ahead

We know Christmas sneaks up on you but try not to leave preparations until the last minute. Get everyone in the family involved in the organization by delegating jobs to each family member, from wrapping presents, chopping vegetables, to laying the table and decorating the tree.

Get in touch with your local Choithrams and ask them to prepare a festive hamper. The Cheese Cake Factory, Hey Sugar and London Diary also have exciting festive products on show at the Dubai Christmas Festival to help visitors create a Christmassy atmosphere right here in the desert.

Get busy in the kitchen with the kids

There are loads of simple recipes you can try out with your children during the holiday season. The festive period is the perfect time to put those baking skills into practice so why not try creating a gingerbread house or making those fancy tree decorations. The French Bakery team has designed a host of delicious treats including their speciality iced Christmas cake and delectable gingerbread, sure to be firm favourites around the Christmas table!

All wrapped up

Make sure you attend this year’s Dubai Christmas Festival to pick up a range of unique gifts. Visitors can pass by the Table Top Bazaar area which will be a real Christmas market lover’s paradise featuring jewellery, paintings and homemade arts and crafts, offering the ideal gifts made right here in Dubai by independent arts and crafts experts.

Crate and Barrel has some fantastic seasonal gifts this year – the Natural Nutcrackers are created exclusively by artisans in the mountainous Erzgebirge region of Germany, where wooden toy making has been a family livelihood and tradition since 1700. This season, the collection introduces limited edition, hand-numbered Shepherds, Drummers and Toymakers.

Running from 5-7 December 2013 at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, the festival has quickly become a must-attend show marked on all Christmas lovers’ calendars. This year, children will be able to meet Santa and his elves when they visit Santa’s Grotto, while the ice rink and a chorus of Christmas carols will keep the family entertained throughout the entire day.

Chris Fountain, Managing Director of Turret Media, the organisers of Dubai Christmas Festival said: “The countdown to the Dubai Christmas Festival has begun! We feel like we’ve been working harder than Santa’s elves to make this the festive event of the season. With snow falling every hour, Dubai’s giant Christmas tree, a snowball park and a peter pan and tinkerbell pantomime show for the kids to enjoy. This year’s event will be a festive treat for exhibitors and local residents visiting the show.
