Website Comment Rules

Thank you for taking the time to read the rules of commenting on our website!

Comments to this website are moderated in advance, that is, checked to make sure they don’t break the rules. You will need to keep your comments constructive, relevant and civil. The following rules and guidelines are to protect you and our moderators will not publish, edit or remove comments that break the rules.

Please read these rules carefully. They outline what we consider is acceptable and unacceptable content. We may update the rules from time to time, so please read them before posting a comment.

Relevance: comments must be relevant to the page they are to appear on.

Be civil: please ensure that your contributions are respectful of others. We will remove contributions that are unlawful, defamatory, false, misleading, harassing, abusive, threatening, obscene, sexually suggestive, racist, homophobic or sexist or that incite or promote hatred of any group or individual.

This is a public website: Once your comment is online, anyone with internet access can read it. Please make your comment clear to ensure that it is not misunderstood. Your comment may be rated by other users and given a thumbs up or thumbs down.

Abusive language: comments containing swearing or abusive language will not be published. Do not insult other contributions or discuss the non-appearance or removal of any content on this site or the suspension or termination of any users.

English: all comments on the website must be made in English. Comments in other languages will not be published.

Multiple posts: duplicate comments or repeats will not be published.

Personal information: to protect your privacy any information you contribute that reveals personal information, such as phone numbers, email addresses, addresses or that violates a third party's right to privacy and so on will not be published. Any attempts to use the site to exchange personal information or arrange meetings with another user will also not be published.

Advertising: Comments deemed to be advertising a product or service will not be published. Spam comments and commercial content will not be published. Promotion of political groups or ideologies, political rants, inflammatory religious content, any form of spam, flooding, advertisements, petitions, chain letters, pyramid schemes or solicitations of any kind are strictly prohibited.

Copyright: Users should not breach copyright restrictions by posting information in any form (e.g. text, video, audio, graphics) to which they do not hold the copyright.

Comment Content: When making comments about companies or organisations, it is understood that sometimes they may be critical and/or negative. Please be respectful. Don't make accusations that are personal, unsubstantiated, unfounded, inflammatory, or slanderous. They will be deleted. If you have a complaint or issue about or with a company or institution your first recourse should be to contact them directly and solve any issues that way. If you don't tell them about any issues that they have- how can they begin to fix them?

Moderation: All comments will be viewed by our moderators before appearing on the site. Our moderators will assess the comments solely on the basis of the rules outlined above. If they believe that the comment does not adhere to the rules outlined here, the comment will not appear.

Our moderators check comments regularly and if you are patient and it is approved it should appear within a reasonable period of time.

This might take longer depending on the volume of comments ExpatWoman.com receives every day. Moderation will also take longer at the weekend.

Attacks, criticism and the like on moderators or admins of this site will not be tolerated, and will result in non- publication of comments and may result in a permanent ban. Moderators sometimes have to make difficult judgment calls based on the laws of the land and the tone we strive for on the website, but remember they are human too. Hopefully they make decisions that are considered "correct" by the majority of the community to make this website a pleasant place to visit.

All decisions and actions of our moderators are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Action we may take: A breach of any of our rules can lead to your comment being rejected. Repeated or serious breaches of our rules may lead to us blocking contributions from your email address or suspending your ExpatWoman.com account. We reserve the right to delete any content at any time for any reason and are under no obligation to publish any comments.

Conduct or comments that demand a disproportionate amount of our time or that abuse our staff may also result in blocking of contributions.

We are sometimes contacted by person, a user or a company, who wish to have a particular comment removed for some reason - incorrect facts, damaging to them personally or professionally, personal situations they do not wish to be discussed publicly, too much information, original commentator wants it removed etc. etc. and this is done, without entering into any debate, as to why a particular comment has been removed. We do not differentiate between site sponsors and non-sponsors, users and non- users. We will delete any comment whenever requested by anyone.

ExpatWoman.com reserves the right to alter or update the rules or terms and conditions at any time.

These rules may be updated from time to time. It is your responsibility to check for, and adhere to, the updated rules.

HI Please help, we have a female cat who is just over 2 years old and due to unfortunate circumstances we have been trying to find her a new home but been unsuccessful. The reason for the re-home is that my mother is having to come to stay with us and is extremely allergic to cats. Can you let me know if you are able to take her as my mother is arriving next week and we are now desparate. Many thanks Louise

Hi, I cohabit with my partner and we have 2 children together. Is there a way to work around the necessity of being married in order to obtain a visa? My partner has been offered a work in Dubai and it seems like if marriage is the only way to live together in Dubai? Any other possibilities?
