24th July 2012: The International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge formally opened the Olympic Truce Wall in the Olympic Village. The Wall, which has been a fixture in the Olympic Villages since Sydney 2000, forms the backdrop for the Team Welcome Ceremonies and provides a place of reflection and inspiration of peace through sport. 13th July 2012: London 2012 has today offered the first preview of how the Olympic sports venues will look to spectators and global television audiences. 12th July 2012: The first team officials have started moving in to the Olympic and Paralympic Village ahead of athletes’ arrival on 16 July. 11th July 2012: London 2012 and all transport partners – including the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), the London 2012 Organising Committee, (LOCOG) Transport for London (TfL), Network Rail and the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) – today urged disabled spectators to plan their journeys and ensure they have booked rail travel and, if necessary, Blue Badge parking at venues in advance. London 2012 medals to be housed at the historic Tower of London
2nd July 2012: Rio Tinto, the mining company responsible for the production of the precious metals for the London 2012 Games, will hand over the final Olympic and Paralympic medals to LOCOG for secure storage in the vaults at the Tower of London during the Games. Read More>>

Olympic Flame for the London 2012 Games is lit in Ancient Olympia
May 10th 2012: Running from 10 to 17 May 2012, the 3,000km Greek leg of the Torch Relay will see the Olympic Flame reach approximately 40 communities and be carried by around 500 people. The ceremony organised by the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) to light the Olympic Flame was held today inside the Temple of Hera at the historic ruins of the home of the ancient Olympic Games. 27th April 2012: Fantastic lightshow marks completion of London 2012 arts programme as huge iconic ‘RUN’ artwork is switched on. An illuminated artwork as tall as a house, weighing 30 tonnes and inspired by the music of Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young was last night switched on to mark the completion of 26 new arts installations on the Olympic Park. 26th April 2012: The full programme was announced today for the London 2012 Festival, celebrating the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will take place from 21 June – 9 September 2012 and feature leading artists from around the world.
