Later in 1915, with new found women's liberation the Art Deco period begun and introduced bright colours and the obligatory elongated geometric styles which by 1935 had softened to complement the returning curves of femineity. Retro prevailed the 40's, where metals and semi precious stoned reined. As the result of war, money and materials were not available in abundance though through clever craftsmanship and design saw to the creation of more magnificence and originality.

The name, La Belle Epoque, or The Beautiful Era which reined from 1895 to 1914 was known for its prosperity and the privileged and luxurious lifestyles of those who indulged in its extravagance. The jewellery of this era was no different - producing arguably some of the most elegant and delicate adornments of a time past. For Carrie this was the most poignant name choice - while she deals in jewels from all periods, she tries to acquire those of which are the most elegant or representative of the time in which they were created.
