British Institute for Learning Development
Does your child have learning difficulties?
• Is he/she totally capable of doing mainstream
school work but just struggles to keep up with the other children in the class?
• Perhaps they take a little time to grasp a new maths subject, or have fallen a few levels behind their age group for reading?
• Or maybe they simply have trouble concentrating in a classroom of 20+ children.
Well, you are not alone. More than 15 % of children aged 4 – 16 are struggle at school because they have learning difficulties of one sort or the other. The trouble is… these children are often labelled as lazy or hyperactive or even penalised for ‘disturbing the classroom’. As these children are left out or can't keep up, it affects their confidence and further decreases their class performance.
Parents often feel there is little or no solution. These children are not special needs children, yet they are struggling to keep up the pace in mainstream school. In other parts of the world, there are schools that cater to these children who need a little more guidance and assistance. For many years there was nowhere in the UAE to help them. Luckily for you, now there is.
The British Institute for Learning Development was established in 2002 by Dr. Chris Reynolds and Sheena Reynolds. The centre works on increasing a child’s cognitive development which directly affects their learning capacity. The Learning Development Programme is based on the belief that children’s learning capabilities and performance can improve where children receive personal coaching to first develop the foundation sensory systems of the mind and body.
In 2009, the British Institute won the prestigious Princess Haya Award for Research into the effects of Sensory Integration therapy. The-two year study of the neuro-physiological development of children showed that Sensory Integration therapy can increase learning capacity and intelligence and improve children’s academic ability.
In 2010 and 2011, the Oxford-Cambridge publication Global Education & Skills: An Oxbridge Guide, has selected the St Andrews College International programme at the British Institute for Learning Development in Dubai to list in the world's top 200 schools in innovative education.
The British Institute represents St Andrews College International in the UAE and offers both a school special programme as well as an after-school programme for children with learning difficulties.
If your child requires a little extra help, give us a call. We can have your child assessed to find the root cause of why he or she is unable to keep up with their peers. We can then design a programme to address these issues to get them back on track.
