How to Pay Your Utility Bills in Dubai

Need to pay your utility bills in Dubai? Here is how.

The Dubai Government and the private utility companies have done a pretty good job of setting up various electronic ways to pay your bills, saving you the headache of physically travelling and joining a queue.

Electronic payments can be done online through official websites for services such as water and electricity bills, phone bills and payment, services like traffic and parking fees, and more. Online payment facilities are also offered by private banks.

Obviously you can pay your bills in the traditional way at the various offices and kiosks around town, but it does mean dealing with traffic and queues.

The Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) has made provisions for its customers to pay their utility bills in a number of different ways. Other utilities like telephone and cable TV/internet have a variety of bill payment options offered by the main telecom providers including Etisalat and Du.

Paying for parking

When parking your vehicle at any of the RTA public parking spots in Dubai, you can pay using mParking. Below is a step-by-step guide:

  • Prepare an SMS text to 7275.
  • The text must be in this format: Your vehicle's plate number and code [space] area code [duration] duration in hour. For example, that would be A12345 (plate number and code) 123 A (parking area) 2 (hours). The text will read: A12345 123 A 2
  • You will receive your virtual parking ticket by text, and will be reminded around 10-15 minutes before your parking time expires.

If you exceed your paid parking time without paying an extension and leave your car parked without a ticket, you will likely get fined.
