On Sunday 3^rd October 150 ExpatWoman readers joined together for a scrumptious breakfast in the stunning Al Falak Ballroom at the top of the Burj Al Arab. Even though this iconic hotel is nearly 12 years old, it still never fails to impress, just driving along the causeway early in the morning is enough to add a spring to our step! We were fortunate to be joined by Dr Houriya Kazim, a specialist breast surgeon and the head of Brest Friends Support Group. Her talk was fascinating and focussed on breaking the taboos surrounding breast cancer in this region, and the great strides they are making in promoting awareness and the benefits of regular self-examination and screening. We were also delighted to be whisked off around the world by The Chic Collection, Jessica Hudson talked us through some of their luxury holiday destinations and one of our lucky ladies was presented with a voucher for a fabulous family holiday in a luxury villa at the fabulous new development in Villa Valriche, Mauritius. Many more prizes were won to pamper and excite lots of our guests. Carrie Ryan from La Belle Epoque showcased her stunning Antique and Vintage Jewellery, something previously not seen in Dubai, and it was fascinating to see the workmanship in these carefully sourced luxury pieces. Purely Pearls chose this special event to launch the sale of their annual Pearl Bracelet that they create every October, in aid of Breast Cancer, this year it is loaded with beautiful girlie charms and pearls and of course the well recognised Breast Cancer bow, we at EW have worn ours all month! They also presented all our ladies with a voucher to visit their new premises in the Jumeirah Plaza on the Beach Road, and many ladies hot footed it down their as they left the Burj!
