On Sunday 16th January ExpatWoman members met at the Mark Wilkinson Showroom on the Sheikh Zayed Road to watch Chef Poonsak from JoyBean Noodle Bar at Dusit Princess Hotel, City Centre, Dubai. He showed us how to make Grilled Prawn Salad with Lime and Chilli Dressing. He made it look effortless but the results were delicious. We all had our own individual bowls and set to work with our chopsticks, to sample the fresh, crunch salad. Raw coffee circulated with cups of their smooth hot coffee, and lots of fresh fruit juices were on hand to clear our palettes! Chef Poonsak set to work to create Phad Thai with shrimp (wok fried rice noodle with fried tofu, shrimp and bean sprouts) He explained each ingredient and the way they blend together and also there were many discussions as to where to buy them in Dubai. We were treated to a demonstration of how to carve the most amazing creations in various fruits and vegetables, real works of art appeared while we were watching Chef in action. Again a taster of Phad Thai Noodles circulated and we also sampled some traditional Thai deserts that rounded our morning off perfectly. At these events there is always a chance to drift around the fabulous kitchens and dream that they might be ours one day, and then what great cooks we could be…! Click on the images to view...
