Since coming to Dubai I have found it difficult to locate a good Italian restaurant, which is reasonably priced. The Movenpicks (Bur Dubai) new Italian themed night looked as if it could to tick all the boxes. The three-course dinner offers a buffet style starter and dessert, with the main course separately ordered.

The starter selection offers a lovely range of anti pasta’s and salads through to a light consume soup. A real Italian pick and mix option which would not be out of place during a typical evening dinner in Tuscany.

From there, and the real find of the night, is your individually chosen main course. Those of you who are pasta lovers will not be disappointed with the handmade pasta main course on offer, truly superb. For those who are wanting a lighter dinner I would recommend the ravioli and, with the beef cannelloni for those with a healthier appetite. Sameer, the Executive Chef at The Movenpick confirms that the pasta has all been individually handmade by his new addition to the team who just finished training by a leading Italian chef.

If you are not keen on pasta or fancy something different then I would try the pizza’s. A suitable size for one, they come with a healthy amount of topping which is well seasoned and perfectly cooked.

Finally the desert buffet options are great end for anyone with a sweet tooth. Once again a large varied range of deserts on offer with my personal recommendation going to the Pannacotta.

Movenpick has put a lot of effort into getting this themed dinner night correct and it shows. The service was excellent with the waiting staff helpful to the end.

If you are looking for a non-pompous, enjoyable Italian evening then The Fountain Restaurant is definitely worth a try.
