The Palm Grill
The Palm Grill Restaurant is located at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek.
My friend and I decided to leave the men at home and headed off for a steak night. Living in JBR, it's always a bit of a treat to head to the Creek part of the city as a stroll along the waterside is very pleasant (especially now it's cooling down) and really interesting

as you can see what cargo is sitting on the pavement - everything from refrigerators to plastic cups!
The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of the hotel, it has a lovely wooden floor which really lends itself to a grill restaurant. The kitchen is in a corner, which has glass panelling so you can see what's going on, open kitchens are always fun to watch.
Palm Grill was quiet with only a few tables occupied, at first, but it was a Monday night. One thing that struck us was the background music and the tunes being played would have been more suited to the 'Pub' next door. Given we were chatting we weren’t disturbed by it but we did notice it 'slowed down’ as the evening went on.
The menu has been re-launched, traditional dishes have been given a contemporary twist. The menu was quite extensive with a choice of 11 starters, 3 soups, a 'specialist' steak section which included the usual Wagyu/New Zealand/South African and Austrailian cuts. Then there was another full page featuring other grill choices such as Surf & Turf, chicken, lamb and fish & chips - something for everyone.
There was a 500g chateubriand on offer which we thought would have been fun to have flambéed at our table but how we wanted our steaks cooked differed too much - I like medium rare and my friend likes hers frazzled! So that was not to be.

We were served an amuse-bouche of aubergine marmalade and flat bread, followed by our starters of pan fried scallops, warm broad bean mousse and diced potatoes. The salted seafood tiramisu included hammor, salmon and clams with a big prawn, and crispy vegetables on a savoury tiramisu (a lovely salted cream). The presentation was lovely but we think whilst chef was being artistic our food had lost some of it's heat! The food was very tasty nonetheless.
Our main courses did not disappoint: a surf & turf and a fillet mignon. This is the second time I have dined at the Radisson Blu and I'd forgotten how generous the portions could be, so with side orders of grilled asparagus, dauphinioise potatoes, beer battered onion rings and steak fries, for 2, we'd over-ordered!
Our steaks were tender, tasty and cooked to perfection - we ate it all!
To finish I had the thinly sliced apple tart with ice cream and my friend had the baked cheesecake which she thought was a bit on the small side, but on consumption she decided her eyes had been bigger than her tummy!
Overall the food was very good and the service, attentive. What more can you ask?
The cost for 2 persons - 3 courses, sparkling water and a pot of tea AED527. And a good old catch up - priceless!
