Dante's Pasta Night, Grand Millenium Hotel
On Monday night feeling a strong desire for something Italian we decided to try Dante’s Pasta Night at Grand Millennium Dubai in Tecom.
Walking in, we were welcomed by the friendly staff and taken to our table by the large windows over looking the romantic Al fresco terrace and fountain, which diners can take advantage of on cooler nights. Once we were seated we were able to appreciate the elegant decor of marble and beautiful paintings, which were further enhanced by effective lighting. Live music by Roberta added to the elegant ambiance of the restaurant.
We began our meal at the starter section of the buffet which had so many varieties to choose from. Choices range from a classic tuna pasta salad and veal Carpaccio to seafood dishes with mussles and prawns. The stuffed calamari was a real treat and that’s coming from a very fussy seafood lover. If you are vegetarian there were plenty of tasty veggie dishes on offer as well.
The main pasta station wasn’t quite what I was expecting. Having envisioned pots of premade pasta I was pleasantly surprised that each pasta dish is individually made to your tastes. The pasta dish options ranged from fresh pasta, ready-made pasta and various ravioli fillings. The diner is then given a choice of sauces and can add from a selection of vegetables and meat to suit their tastes. I couldn’t decide so the chef happily suggested a tasty mix of chicken, garlic, mushrooms and onions in a lovely cream sauce. My husband had the raviolis topped with a cream sauce, garlic and fresh vegetables which were rich and flavourful. All of this is made in front of you and brought back to your table. The portions are quite big so make sure you go there hungry!
The staff at Dante’s are friendly and check up on you regularly, including the singer who made her way around the tables of diners to see how they were enjoying the music.
After the main course we gave ourselves a few minutes to recover before heading to the dessert table, my favourite part of every meal! Dante have a variety of desserts to tickle your taste buds, from crème brûlée, which is rich and creamy with a perfectly caramelised sugar topping, to an indulgent chocolate mousse and tiramisu. Thankfully it’s a buffet and we didn’t have to choose which dessert to order and were able to sample nearly all of the desserts!!
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our evening and thought the Pasta Evening offers great food and good value for money.
