10 Things to Do in Dubai This Summer

Anyone who has endured the summer in Dubai will know that it can get unbearable sometimes. With the high humidity added to the heat, everyone starts changing their outdoor lifestyle into an indoor one.

Some of the most fun activities aren’t much of an option anymore. The sweltering heat makes desert adventures out of the question and the beach waters become too warm to enjoy. Even going for a walk becomes less relaxing because you’re drenched in sweat within minutes.

However, people might be too cynical when it comes to Dubai summers. In an effort to change perceptions and encourage visitors, Dubai Tourism released a new ad to show that summer here isn’t as bad as it seems.

The video portrays Dubai as a blockbuster summer holiday destination. With so many activities, adding in the dramatic effect of the video, we’re almost convinced! See for yourself…

If you will be spending summer here, whether as a resident or tourist, here are some ideas of things to do.

1. Visit one of the Dubai theme parks

Most of the rides, attractions and queues are indoors and air conditioned, so you can still have fun without enduring too much heat. The best part? There are special summer prices for Motiongate, Bollywood Parks, Legoland and Legoland Water Park.

Starting May 21st, admission costs will be slashed to Dh195 to any park and Dh295 to any two parks, both including unlimited food and beverage!

2. Immerse yourself in games

Head down to City Walk and check out Hub Zero. This 18,000-square-metre indoor entertainment park is a great way to escape the heat. There’s plenty of interactive games and virtual reality experiences. There are 18 attractions, four gaming zones and arcade machines.

3. Play glow-in-the-dark mini-golf

4. Climb a wall

If you’re up for a bit of strength training, going rock climbing indoors is a great fun way to spend an afternoon. If you’ve never done it before, no worries – there are different levels of difficulty.

5. Play archery tag

If you’re a fan of the Hunger Games, you can pretend you’re an archer at Flip Out where you can actually shoot a bow and arrow. It's similar to dodge ball, except it’s played with specially designed bows and foam-tipped arrows that won’t hurt anyone.

If you’re still looking for more unusual fun afterwards, check out their trampoline basketball and football.
