hi natalie, have u checked out 'sana' on the corner of karama - just up from trade centre rdbt. they've got lots of cheap jumpers, jackets, scarves, gloves etc. stock lots of george @ asda, primark extra stock, and at the same prices, very good value for basic sweaters and cardigans that you're only going to get use of for a couple of weeks.
their stock can be very hit and miss but was in there couple of weeks ago and got some bargains.... good for basics like tights too

OK. I'll go with that advice. I think I'll go to Festival Centre later today to gat a couple, meaning TWO sweaters. :-p. I have a nice leather jacket and a few nice winter scarves that I picked up at Global Village in the Pakistan section. I also have a couple of sweaters here and lots of jeans. I'll definitlely do the major shopping there - Christmas gifts to myself! :-D

There is a far bigger range in the UK of wimter clothing and at far better prices. If you can scrape together an outfit of layers to get there, I think you'd find it far more fun to do some shopping there. As Izzy says with the VAT back it's a good deal.

Oh! Thanks, Izzy, I didn't even think about the VAT. I know the shopping here for real people is pretty dismal, but I only want to get a few basics so that I don't freeze to death when I arrive. :-D

To be honest, the winter clothes you get out here aren't really winter clothes that are suitable for the UK. Personally, would layer up and hed straight to Oxford street and do you r shopping there.
remembering to keep all recipet for the VAT back thing.

OK, I need to get some basics for winter clothes since I'm going to London on December 2nd for two weeks. Yaaaaayyyy!!!!!! In your opinion, for a one stop shop, if you will, which mall would be the best for things like sweaters, scarves and gloves? I've looked at boots here but the prices are ridiculous, I'll buy them in London.
My preferred malls are, in order of liking them, are 1) Festival Centre, 2) Mirdif City Centre, and 3) Dubai Mall. I know the Outlet Mall is good for prices, but it seems to be pretty hit and miss. Thanks for your help. :-)
