no you just sweep up the loose dirt and dust. I would imagine it is like washing the floor only better and if you have clumps of dirt and du.st bunnies, they will only get moved around by the steamer, the steamer does not make them disappear lol..think of making mud lol

vacume or sweep first. the steam mop is not a vacume especially if you have animals and wear socks and clean moving backwards lol

hmm.. do you ladies have/use a vacuum cleaner along with the steam mop, or is that substitute vacuuming/ having a vacuum cleaner?

Sorry to revive a semi-boring thread. I was approached by a saleslady in C4@MCC and she was doing demo's of the Black & Decker steam mop, I cannot remember the price and she ran out of water and I could not wait for her to get it sorted. Any reviews on this? http://www.blackanddecker.ae/en/steammop/
TIA

i went to dragon mall and got mine from the same shop as alive, and got the same deal as her,200 aed, it is amazing,i was loving it ,it leaves the floor clean clean clean, removes all dusts and dirt, especially kitchen floor. i did apply some floor cleaner with a spray on the towel piece attached. but now it started leaking,so stoped using it,i'm taking it back since they have a one year warranty,i'll give feedback on their aftersales service.

I have tile floors. Is there a noticeable difference after cleaning with a steam mop versus a regular mop?

Steam mops - love them - we've just bought a new one from EMax at Oasis Center for 299AED. It has attachments to do other cleaning jobs other than mopping. We've had two other ones - they seem to last around 2 years - we always buy and new one as it is far superior to normal mopping - no chemicals, nicer feel to the floor after mopping, seems to stay cleaner for longer, is quicker to do even with needing to wait for the water to clean up.

Was at Outlet Mall last night and Tchibo had a steam mop that looked identical to the H20, but was a German brand. 119dhs. Because it's the factory return store, I'd have them take it out and test it before I bought it. Good deal! I'm still loving my H20.

hubby put it together and it wouldn't work. called the guy I bought it from and He said Hubby put it together wrong, bring it in and He would put it together right....lol (you can imagine how that went down). Stopped in there tonight and the guy said it wasn't working because seal broken on it. He did give me another one and put it together and tested it. The only thing not working, that didn't work on the other one either was when the unit is ready to go the light is to go from yellow to green. The man said my machine sits all day and doesn't show green. It will work though. It looked like it was working, so I took it.
I vacuumed kitchen floor and tried the machine out on that at 10:30 at night. It works GREAT. I love it. It glides easily across floor, cleaned up all my sticky spots. Has a long lead. Easy to refill if you ran out of water. Leaves the floor a little wet, but no more than when I mopped and it dried and looked very nice.
You can see if the price is a lot more at IBN Battuta and ask the store clerk to put it together and test it. I'm curious if their products show the green light. If you want a good deal, then go to Dragonmart, but have the guy put it together and test it prior to leaving the store.

if you do go buy one, have them check the box against the manual to make sure all the parts are there. mine is missing the measuring cup. the water reservoir comes off and you can fill it up at the sink, but the little cup helps if you just need to add a little water while the reservoir is on the machine. it also comes with two little bags of screws and rubber threads...make sure they are there too. mine was, but you would have difficulty putting it together without them.

I want one of these too, so I went to DG Shariff (Times Square) here is what they had: Karcher K-55 279 dhs Black/Decker FV200 310 dhs
Went on to Ace (Sheik Zayed) they had nothing
Went on to Speedex they had nothing
Went on to EX at Oasis they had: Bissell Flip It 5200G model 599dhs Bissell Quickwash 699dhs Vax 796dhs 1400 watts
I wanted something light, so I decided I wanted the H20. Someone posted this link and said they were at IBN Battuta http://housekeeping.about.com/od/surfacefloors/tp/topsteammops.htm it's the one with the triangle head
I was at Dragonmart today and asked around. I found it for 200 dhs at this shop. First quoted 250dhs, comes with 2 cleaner cloths and they sell more for 15dhs. Gulf Phoenix Intl. Shop BAC-08 You come in from Auchan store down main aisleway (in Electronics), make first left and it's right there.
I bought it. Hopefully I love it!

Did you try Sharaf in Time Square ? They have the whole brand of karsher that have some steamers (or steam mop ?) also. I had one who vacuun and steam mop at the same time : was brillant ..... until my maid used it...and so broke it. I'm really planing to buy the same one again. With our zoo and kids, it's really a gain of time for a happy clean house...

If there is one thing I regret not buying before we left Aus it's a steam mop. All my girlfriends had them and their floors always look lovely. We didn't have one because we had polished floors. Now we have nothing but tiles here and I wish I had one. Please if anyone finds one let us know.
